Current Work
Hardypond Construction is currently working on
many diverse projects in Cumberland and York counties.
EnviroLogix
Portland, ME
Hardypond is working with EnviroLogix to renovate an unused
garage space into an office area, a packaging and distribution
area, and refrigerated storage. Hardypond assisted the client in
the design phase and continues through construction. EnviroLogix
is a biotechnology firm specializing in creating test kits to
detect genetically modified organisms in everyday foods.
Saco Transportation Center
Saco, ME
Hardypond has begun construction on the Saco Transportation
Center designed by
Lassel Architects P.A. in
South Berwick, Maine. The
building will service the Amtrak/Downeaster train, a bus
station, and the Saco Chamber of Commerce and Tourism
Information office. The project is located on a reclaimed
brownfield site at Saco Island. The building will have superior
insulation qualities, day lighting obtained through passive
solar design, a wind turbine for electricity, and a geothermal
system for heating and cooling purposes.
St. Lawrence Arts and Community Center
Portland, ME
The St.
Lawrence Arts & Community Center resides in the Historical St.
Lawrence Church built in 1897 on the top of Munjoy Hill. Due to
a lack of funding the sanctuary could not be restored at this
time. Hardypond constructed structural supports to ensure
the building remained standing in early 2006. Currently,
Hardypond is responsible for dismantling the facility saving the
stained glass windows, pews seating 400 people, organ, rose
granite, and other miscellaneous historical items. Demolition
began in early May. Hardypond hopes to rebuild this community
fixture in the coming years.
University of
Maine Farmington, Merrill Hall
Farmington, ME
Hardypond is
working with the University of Maine at Farmington on their
administrative building, Merrill Hall. The building was the
first structure on campus and involves historical aspects in the
building design. Previously unused attic space is being turned
into faculty offices, administrative support offices and a music
practice room. The work will be completed over the summer of
2008.
